Stuart Aken's Bio:

Stuart Aken is a professional writer of creative text. I write short stories, plays and novels. I retired from my part-time employment in the Local Authority on 5 April 13 and am now writing full time. PLEASE don't ask for a recommendation unless I have experience of your work. Recommendations are meaningless if the person recommending doesn't know the work. Likewise, the recent fashion for 'endorsing' skills is useful only inasmuch as those doing the endorsing have any experience of those skills. The same goes for voting on online contests for books and stories: I can't vote if I haven't read it. I hope this doesn't seem too aloof: I simply feel that integrity is a vital element of any writer's make-up. And, if I believe your work should be recommended, I'll do it unasked. Is that okay? Worked as team leader, motivating, supervising and training a team of 24 sales operatives selling self-catering accommodation holidays and the insurance that went with such activity.

January 1977 - April 1994
Supervisor of benefit teams, Adjudication Officer - making decisions on unemployment benefit entitlement and appearing at appeal tribunals to aid the tribunal chairman, Training Officer training staff in all matters to do with unemployment benefit, Deputy Office Manager running a staff of 84 in 3 separate locations and responsible for ?5M budget.
